Welcome To Joyful Noise Band North East Syndicate   Print

Joyful Noise Northeast Homeschool Band is a ministry designed to provide homeschooled students, who would not otherwise have access to group music programs such as Band and Orchestra, the opportunity to learn music and play together in a Christian environment.  Run by volunteer homeschooling families, Joyful Noise Northeast is an outgrowth of the respected Cobb County-based Joyful Noise Band founded by Susan Davis (see “About Us”).

Joyful Noise Northeast provides band instruction on three levels, Beginner and Intermediate / Advanced,  as well as a Marching Band, two Recorder Ensembles (Beginner and Advanced), and, new for the 2008-09 season, Homeschool Chorus.   As God prospers, we hope to add more ensembles, including more advanced levels of Concert Band, String ensembles, and eventually a full orchestra.

We work with students from the earliest beginner level (students who do not as yet read music or even know how to assemble their instrument!) up through more advanced students who may audition for our Marching Band.  We help students progress to playing increasingly complex and challenging music, exploring a variety of musical styles, from classical, sacred music, hymns, and praise music, to marches, modern, swing, and jazz genres.

We provide opportunities for students to perform, to stretch their level of proficiency as they audition for chairs in higher level groups, and to grow in leadership abilities as older more experienced students may assist the directors.

Our directors are all chosen on the basis of their Christian faith and musical experience, and all are well qualified to lead the classes they instruct.

Our students rise to the challenge of high personal responsibility in maintaining a regular home practice schedule, attending weekly rehearsals, and performing in Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as in various special performances throughout the area (such as the Lilburn Christmas parade, Homeschool Day at the State Capitol, and other local venues). Students may go on to perform in their church’s Worship Team as a result of their education at JNNEHB, or be inspired to pursue music as a career.

Our Marching Band (“GA Force Marching Band”), performs at Georgia Force High School Football games,  (http://www.forcehighschoolfootball.com/), and also with the Concert Band at other performances.

We rehearse Mondays at Lilburn First Baptist Church, located on Lawrenceville Hwy. (Hwy. 29) in downtown Lilburn, conveniently located for families in Gwinnett, Dekalb, Rockdale, Hall, Barrow, and north Fulton counties.  We welcome you to join us as we seek to teach our students “to learn to love music, love making music, and develop their God-given talents to the glory of God!”
